Fields of Dreams Uganda believes that the power of sports in a child’s life can make a lasting impact, and often a quality education is the only thing that can lift a child out of poverty.

The Banana-leaf Ball

The banana-leaf ball is the symbol of Fields of Dreams Uganda. Children throughout Uganda love playing soccer, but most cannot afford or do not have access to a real soccer ball. So they improvise. They start with a balled up grocery sack and wrap it with leaves from a banana tree or whatever resources they have available. For Fields of Dreams Uganda, the banana-leaf soccer ball represents the innovation, imagination and creativity of children.
